ARMS

Australian Relief and Mercy Services Ltd (ARMS) is the mercy ministry arm of Youth With A Mission Australia.

We are a registered charity and international relief and development organization and our National Office is located on the Melbourne base. ARMS provides assistance to the poor and needy within Australia and overseas and has been greatly supported by YWAM Melbourne in doing so.

In 2005 ARMS together with the Melbourne base ran its first Mercy Ministry DTS in which graduates from that school will were involved in a range of hands on mercy ministry projects and second level schools both within Australia and overseas. Since then we have run 2 more Mercy focused DTS with the aim to run one every 2 years.(More information about this course can be obtained by emailing dts@ywammelbourne.org )

Some facts about ARMS.....

• ARMS is staffed by volunteers who donate their time and their skills in order to help ARMS fulfill its mandate of caring for the poor and the needy.
• We are funded through public donations.
• ARMS volunteers regularly offer support to needy people within the local community.
• They also provide training for Primary Health Care workers both within Australia and overseas.
• Through Rescuenet, trained workers are delpoyed into international disaster situations.
• We provide support and resources for projects amongst refugees, AIDS victims, landmine victims, homeless communities and people who have fallen through the safety net.
• ARMS regularly recruits and sends medical and building teams to places such as East Timor and Thailand.
• ARMS works with other NGOs, churches and government bodies to give practical and developmentally sound responses communities in need.
• People who want to join the staff of ARMS must first have successfully have completed a YWAM DTS.
