When God told me to do a DTS I had to leave Beauty School at TAFE and the teachers were really confused. They said to me “What’s your deal Lydia? Do you want to beautician or a missionary? You can’t do both!” Well, when I was on outreach in Mazatlan, for Carnaval I had the opportunity to be able to work in a free beauty salon. The beauty salon was a tool to reach out to women and men who had never been to a salon before and who had never heard or felt the love of God. It was amazing to see how touched and blessed they were. And I feel like it was really a God thing. I feel that God was preparing me by sending me to TAFE to be able to reach out to these women who were hurting and who had never had someone tell them they are beautiful, and who had never been given the time to be shown love. I can go back home now and say I did both!
